As I wrote a couple of months ago, Johan Motin looked at this season as his importunity with the Oilers organization, it was the last one on his contract and it was a make it or break it season. He started of well with the Barons and things did look rather good for him. He was getting regular ice time but with Teubert sent back down along with the reclaimed Chorney Motin ended up being a healthy scratch once again and one would believe he faced a possible demotion to Stockton Thunder. Back then his words were:
[…] some parts of me is looking to go home again and if they move me to Stockton again, I’ve had it. If they do, I’ll catch the next flight home immediately.
I had hoped he would have been handed a last cup of coffee with the Oilers before they gave up on him. Well, they didn’t.. Motin have signed a contract for the remainder of the season with Timrå IK, the former team of current Edmonton Oilers Magnus Pääjärvi and Anton Lander. Motin signing with Timrå and not his former SEL-team Färjestad BK is actually a good thing for Oilers. Had he signed with Färjestad it would have meant less ice time for Oilers prospect Oscar Klefbom (currently sidelined by a now confirmed concussion, read more..).
Motin managed to get 1 game with the Edmonton Oilers (1-0-0-0) and 44 with the Barons (44-1-5-6) sporting a +4 rating and 2 assists in 10 games this season.
